Pauls Progress Update - November 2010

It should be said that Paul has always wanted to get involved in the aviation industry and his dream was to become a commercial airline pilot.  he was due to go to college and study to become a mechanic but was introduced to the aviation industry at White Waltham.

Paul came to the James Beagley memorial schoarship with just 4 hours flght time under his belt.  His objectives for the 1st quarter - his progress will be monitored quarterly - were as follows:-

1. Theory Air Law Exam + Exam 2 Pass
2.  JAR Class 1 medical - Pass
3. Exercises 1-10 completed to satisfactory standard
4. Exercises 12 & 13 normal, flapless, glide completed
5. Flight training target of 11-15 hours

At Paul's first review Paul had done extremely well, having passed the Air Law exam and then going onto pass the Human Resources exam with a mark of 95%

In October Paul completed his first solo, ah yes we all remember our first ...solo later that day he was heard to say ....
" The day got off to a bad start as I thought my lesson was at 11 oclock but it was at 9 so I mucked up a bit there but after a bit of a telling off, she got me going and after a load of practice engine failures and a few bumps here and there she got out and off I went. I had quite a lot to think about and when i was late downwind I thought - oops, Ive got to land this plane on my own, but then I had to get the flaps down and sort out my speeds so it was over before i knew it." a memorable day indeed.

Since Paul has passed his Class 1 medical with 'flying colours', couldnt resist that one

So, the tally is a total of 12.9 hrs flight time with 1.3 being solo with Exercises 1-14 completed and Meteorology Exam passed at the end of November so Paul is well inot his 2nd quarter's targets ....watch this space for more updates and progress reports
