19 year old Paul Hill's family moved to Spain and Paul found employment difficult as he didn't speak Spanish, so returned to the UK looking for an opportunity in the aviation industry, and in particular how he might train to become a pilot.
He had always considered this dream to unattainable, but was introduced to West London Aero Club and a the opportunity to become a member of the ground crew (a "dongler") and grasped it with both hands.
Paul has said that without the support of the James Beagley Memorial Scholarship he would never be able to realise his dream of becoming a commercial airline pilot.
